Niragira Community Development Project
NCDP is a Canadian-Burundian non-profit organization founded by Alphonse Nahimana — a visionary leader based in Toronto, Canada. Since its founding, NCDP has been dedicated to accelerating food security, economic growth, and sustainable development across Burundian communities.
Operating through a diaspora-to-village model, NCDP connects the Burundian diaspora in Canada with community members on the ground in Burundi — delivering real, measurable impact through agriculture, livestock, construction, education, and internet access programs.
What We Do
NCDP operates seven core program areas delivering measurable impact to Burundian communities — from livestock and crops to schools, construction, and internet access.
Animal Production
Livestock distribution, animal health, and veterinary training for Burundian farmers.
Crop Production
Sustainable farming, rice & cassava production, and food security programs.
Education
Building schools, providing scholarships, and vocational training for youth.
Construction
Water factories, bakery facilities, roads, and community infrastructure.
Internet Access
Connecting communities with affordable internet and digital literacy programs.
Diaspora Support
Connecting the Burundian-Canadian diaspora with home communities for joint development.
Community Events
Organizing cultural, civic, and fundraising events across Toronto and Burundi.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
"To accelerate food security, economic growth, and sustainable community development across Burundi — bridging the diaspora and home communities."
- Empower Burundian families through livestock, agriculture, and construction
- Support education access and digital literacy for youth
- Connect the Canadian-Burundian diaspora to fund local development
Our Vision
"A self-sufficient Burundi where every community has the resources, skills, and infrastructure to thrive — from village to diaspora."
NCDP envisions vibrant Burundian communities where families have food security, children have access to quality education, and local entrepreneurs have the tools to build sustainable businesses. Through the diaspora-to-village model, we are making that vision a reality — one project at a time.
